Program

Disaster Relief (tornadoes, floods, hurricanes, fires, or other disasters)

The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Red Cross is there when the community is affected by tornadoes, floods, hurricanes, fires, or other disasters. Red Cross supported more than 300 families in the Monroe/West Monroe area who were heavily impacted by two tornadoes in October 2014. The three American Red Cross chapters in north Louisiana each respond to about 200 home fires each year, or about 600 home fires annually. The North Louisiana Red Cross provides shelter and provisions to hurricane evacuees.
