PROGRAM 1
Home Fire Preparedness Campaign
Home fires are the greatest disaster threat to American families. Seven people die every day from home fires. A fire-related injury is reported every 40 minutes. Annually, home fires cause 2,500 deaths and roughly $7 billion in property damage. What is our goal? The Home Fire Preparedness Campaign aims to save lives, reduce injuries and build more resilient communities through raising awareness, facilitating preventive actions, and fostering community participation. The national goal is a 25% reduction in home fire deaths and injuries in the next five years. How will we achieve it? Working together in communities across the country, the Red Cross and partners are establishing local coalitions of fire departments, houses of worship, businesses, schools, social service agencies, neighborhood leaders and others to mobilize resources and volunteers in support of local home fire preparedness. Focused especially on supporting at-risk neighborhoods, coalitions will develop and carry out numerous activities over the course of the five year campaign, including three campaign cornerstone activities: • Door-to-door installation of smoke alarms and completion of home-safety checklists and plans in vulnerable neighborhoods. • Engage youth in classrooms and after school with technology and science-based education. • A marketing and public relations campaign to motivate people to take action to save themselves, their families and their neighbors by checking smoke alarms and practicing evacuation when the alarm goes off.

PROGRAM 1
Disaster Relief (tornadoes, floods, hurricanes, fires, or other disasters)
The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Red Cross is there when the community is affected by tornadoes, floods, hurricanes, fires, or other disasters. Red Cross supported more than 300 families in the Monroe/West Monroe area who were heavily impacted by two tornadoes in October 2014. The three American Red Cross chapters in north Louisiana each respond to about 200 home fires each year, or about 600 home fires annually. The North Louisiana Red Cross provides shelter and provisions to hurricane evacuees.

PROGRAM 2
Service to the Armed Forces
The American Red Cross serves 2 million military personnel, including active duty, National Guard and Reserve, as well as our veterans. We provide 24/7 global emergency communication services and support military and veteran health care facilities across the country and overseas. We help families cope with deployments and support returning combat veterans as they reintegrate into the community. Our team of 350 employees and thousands of volunteers helps deliver services at 1,200 Red Cross offices in communities across the country and on 56 military installations around the world—including Afghanistan, Djibouti and Kuwait.
